Steve Mihaich

A retired police officer, Steve Mihaich brings a unique and professional skill set to home inspection. His background in law enforcement, hardwood flooring, and construction sets him apart from others in his field.

Steve operated a successful part-time hardwood flooring business where he installed, sanded, and finished hardwood floors. In addition to his successful hardwood flooring business he also performed small construction projects like deck building and small additions to homes. This trade was learned from his father who was a contractor himself.

Attention to detail is at the heart of every home inspection, a skill he learned while working on the police force and the construction field. A home is one of the most expensive purchases a person will make in their lifetime. Steve, through his inspections and written report, is committed to ensuring that you have all the facts you need to make a well informed purchase decision.

Steve received his Home Inspector training from The Home Inspection Training Center in, Burlington NC. He is a member of InterNachi (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors). To stay current with the changing laws and trends within the industry he attends regular continuing education classes. Steve is a licensed Home Inspector through the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board(NCHILB), License #3585 in the Triangle and Central North Carolina area.

What I do

I want you to go through the transaction with your eyes wide open. I’ll evaluate your home system and components to determine if your system or component doesn’t function as intended, warrants further investigation by a specialist, poses a safety concern, or adversely affects the habitability of the dwelling. I’ll report the defects I see. I’m required to do so by the state of North Carolina, regardless of any input from clients, contractors, or real estate professionals.

What I don't do

Advise on the length of service of any appliance or roof, although I can tell you the year of manufacture and give you a general idea of life expectancies. Advise on the market value or asking price of a property. Inspect things I cannot see due to wallcoverings, rugs, furniture, or other obstacles.

Who I do it for

I work for you, the buyer and/or seller. I will remain independent in my work and avoid all conflicts of interest. A house is the one of the most important buying decisions a person will make. I will give you unbiased information about the house you’re thinking about purchasing. It’s better to know about certain issues before you sign a sales contract then to find out about them 4 months after you’ve been living in the house.
